    Posted: 08/February/2008 at 7:11pm

I've spent a few months reading many topics to try and answer many of my questions...Wich has helped out tremedously. I've been running a carpet cleaning business for about a year. The first couple of months the olnly ads we had were flyers.(didn't really generate many jobs). Finally our phone book ad came out...WOW RIGHT...haha no(our inoivces have a "how did you hear about us" section) not one call from a phone book ad. Never the less I found google adwords and it keeps us A-Float. We have about 8 websites but That Hitman Ad Guy is in this town and has about 10 websites all taking up most of the first 2 pages.(he still dosn't have the top ranking..haha)  Anyways, We have a 12x6 trailer and use a mytee with 200psi with a rotovac(wanted a stonger porty but the salesman talked me out of it, wish he didn't) I mostly use Pro Coice(extreme Clean) chems, tried using harvard from a local store didnt seem to work as well. Just like most forums i've read, I think it leaves the carpets to wet! Like most who work of a porty, im saving to get a TM. Its just not in the budget right now. Well there was a little bit about our business her are my questions

Do boosters work well? If so How do they work...can i leave my porty in the tailer?
Better chems?
Do glides on a rotovac work well?
Only get 4-5 jobs a week should it be more by now? (we have phonebook ad, online yellow pages, service magic, magic yellow, google adwords, yahoo ads, 8-9 websites, and a many local online ads)
If you really want to , cratique our website panhandlefloorcare.com...maybe it could be better???

We appreciate any helpfull info!!
Brad

I know by reading this forum the last couple of months that some coments like "dont quit your day job" will be said but I'm in know hurry. I also know the companies in my area that have 8-9 vans started somewhere! I'm just trying to learn as much as possible to give my clients the best cleaning and keep them for the long hall!

Skip the TM. In a couple of years you will not be able to afford the gas to run it when gas goes to $10/gallon! Get yourself a high power portable machine instead . If you live in the USA, you have the amperage to run the 3 and 4 vacuum machines. If you live in Canada, buy one of the 2 -3 stage Ninjas that Kleen Kuip sells. The USA and Canada are going into a Depression later this year, and you need to keep your overhead down and operating expenses low if you want to be one of those that gets through it.

Brad, get the vac booster and a voltage converter so you can use the house current in the laundry room.  100' 2" hose.  Work with the rotovac some more until you get your speed/water formula worked out.

That hitman guy has fake sites in florida or at least he started with them.  I did my research and then turned him over to the IICRC for using their logo on non-certified firm sites.  You aren't loosing out to him.

Try some door hangers in neighborhoods that look like the ones you have been selling in.  That target marketing should beef up the results some.  And don't forget your customers are worth milking for repeat business and referrals.  Stay in contact with a monthly newsletter, postcards, holiday cards and annual phone calls.  Include a featured story in your newsletters spotlighting a different customer each time (with permission of course).

You are building a business which includes an inventory of customers.  It takes time.  Sounds like you are doing the right things.  If you want a big company with bigger risks and headaches, hire some experts at driving business your way.
Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?

They are good for making a Rotovac machine go faster and most say they leave the carpet dryer as well.

Since they only cost $20 to buy, they are a good investment. Buy a set. If you dont think it was money well spent after 30 days of trying them, return them and I will refund your money.

The advantage of the Rotovac is agitation. Don't use glides.

"Do boosters work well? "

Absolutely they do and that is why we Invented them in the 70's and received a patent for it in 1980.

Once you use one you will never use your machine without one.

The very best;

Can anyone tell me how it works?...if I had to guess...you connect your hose from your wand hose to input and output a hose to your porty?
