of cleaning and return on investement for equipment being purchased. For example, if you knew of four machines that all do the same thing and: Machine one cost $900.00 and cleaned at 400 Square feet per hour Machine two cost $2000.00 and cleaned at 600-700 Square feet per hour plus cleans berber better Machine three cost $2200.00 and cleaned at 800-900 Square feet per hour plus cleaned berber and grout and tile better Machine four cost $2400.00 and cleaned at 1000-1500 Square feet per hour, plus cleaned berber, grout and tile better again MUCH faster.
Which one of these would be the most attractive BUSINESS purchase?
Serious replies please!

I would go the more expensive machine that does more carpet per hour in your above post, however, if you are talking truckmounted equipment I would not follow that example, I would be looking for the most reliable unit, and one that had a service provider within easy driving distance. In truck units the most expensive could easily be the most troublesome when it comes to breakdowns.

Thank you Don, on my bbs I am getting similar responses... ie: RE: How many here consider SPEED #4
RE: How many here consider SPEED #4
RE: How many here consider SPEED I would buy number 5.. Bob Vawter's Steam Genie PTO.........The one on the Jon Don site!!
RE: How many here consider SPEED #6 go into business management and tell the cleaner which one to buy!!!
RE: How many here consider SPEED #4
RE: How many here consider SPEED #4 once business justified a upgrade from what I have now.
RE: How many here consider SPEED #4,
RE: How many here consider SPEED From a real life experience the price of machine has little to do with it's cleaning rate. I look for quality of construction, warranty and in my eyes is it worth what it costs. The price of these machines are too high for what the user gets.

I would buy Machine #4 all day long. Here is an example of why: If I book a 5000 square foot job (commercial semi open plan office), the market will bear only 7 - 10 cents per square foot. This means I can only bill $500 maximum for this work to be competitive: Here is a breakdown to clean 5000 square feet with the machines listed. Machine #1 (400 sq ft/hr) - 12.5 hrs - billable rate = $40 / hour Machine #2 (600 sq ft/hr) - 8.3 hrs - billable rate = $60 / hour Machine #3 (800 sq ft/hr) - 6.25 hrs - billable rate = $80 / hour Machine #4 (1000 sq ft/hr) - 5.0 hrs - billable rate = $100 / hour So, with Machine #4, I can make a decent buck for my time.

Yes, math is fine but that does not include measuring. Last week I was using one of those roley measurer things and wrote down that a room was 734 feet long. HMMMMMM since it was only 20 feet wide I think something was amis. |

Adwa I can see why you answered the way you did, and know one knows better than you that the 500Psi Ninja cleans 20% faster then the 100Psi Ninja. However the 100Psi Ninja out sells every thing else, especially to the Newbies. Only the long term experienced cleaner buys high pressure at high prices. |
