Do you trust him?...I do hope you did some kind of background check on him...and I do hope you let your insurance agent know of his hiring...if you give his DL number to the agent, he can at least find out about any driving record...if you do send him to any of your regular customers, it would be a good idea to follow up with a phone call to them to see what they say about him and his work...good luck, I know I have had some bad luck with techs that I've hired over the yrs...I always found that the bad ones will steal from you or try to do "side jobs"...which is just another form of stealing...and the good ones find some used equipment and become your competition and try to get some of your regular customers...at one time I had 5 trucks going...well, I was lucky to keep 3 going at any one time...now, I find that I can work alone, do less work with less overhead, and make much more money...with a lot less stress...anyway, good luck...

Where did you find him?  I have had ads in 2 papers, phoned all my suppliers, contacts, etc, advertised on the internet and placed the job with a staffing agency and still have yet to find a tech!  This sure is a tough job to staff!  I can see why everyone is so nervous about guys leaving!

lol, steamer...all we can offer is free cleanings for our techs...I guess I could offer a free pair of sunglasses...stanly steamer runs 29 trucks here...20-25 on the road every day...I don't see how they keep them staffed...must be a huge turnover...

After a few years most bosses start to take employees for granted....

you got to treat your staff right

I've left sears, they have been calling me for weeks to come back... already the new guys that took our places have wrecked 3000 dollars worth of crap and the reservice rate has gone up...they don't show up for work, and one tech is already on the ingured list.

so they asked what will it take for me to come back

45%-55% was my answer and weekly pay

even if they accept I'm not going back....lol

when you have good guys you have to treat them right

they want to have a meeting on saturday...

I used to pay my subs 65% and weekly pay. I think you are selling yourself too cheap Steamer.

Offering to pay someone 50% instead of 40% is the same as a guy that has a boot stepping on his throat. If the boot is raised and now rests on his chest, the guy feels greatful for that, so he forgets that the guy wearing the boot is still stepping on him.
