Sell Glides. There is lots of money doing that, and almost everyone is doing it. Just don't sell those $15.95 models put out by the Nightglider. No future in them as they last for your lifetime is what i heard.

The 39.95 are the ones that will last , the 15.95 ones should last over a year of constant use everyday, if you don't work winters they should last you 2 years. You get what you pay for, but at that price how can you lose.

Tef: I think you got your facts wrong. It was the Nightrider who clearly said that the ceramic glides were the ones that will get the lifetime warrantee, not the other cheaper model. Nightrider also says above that he expects that model to last 3 to 4 years. That means when it wears out, he will have to charge you a very good rate on the shipping to pay for all those free glides you will be receiving over your lifetime.

As for the $15.95 model you got confused on, just read what Nightrider said in his original post when he said that he was going to make glides. He said it will be "utterly industructable". He then said above that it would last about a year or 2 in use. That is where you might have got confused, thinking that "utterly industructable" might mean the same as lifetime. I knew better.I knew exactly what Nightrider was trying to say cause I have been making glides for a few years now eh, and can read between the lines on these things.

Sell SGK glides, I've heard that they are the best. Over and over and over and over........

I'm starting to believe it. Oh wait, no I'm not. I'm starting to lose it

Kenny........why don't you just worry about your own glides and forget what other people are doing, don't trouble yourself what I say and do.................am I the centre of your universe.............find other things to talk about than glides.............

Okay Andy. The best thing to do is carry disability insurance, like I do. This can be purchased so that you receive 60% of your average weekly wage that you have been making the last year.As long as that has been a good one, that is your best bet. If you do not qualify for this type of insurance, or if your wages were lower that year, the next best thing to do is buy direct from WCB. More of a paperwork hassle if you are injured than the first choice, but sometimes that is all you can get. None of this helps now, if you are injured however.

For the here and now situation, I  would make sure you have at least 2 companies ready to subcontract your work for you. If you charge average rates, this should be possible at about 50% of the gross invoice amount. Have a few magnetic signs made up with the name of your company on them. Have your contractor use them on any unlettered vans they may have. That is best. Otherwise, you may have to accept lettered vans with a different company name do the work for you. The longer term answer is to always have at least 2 TMs with 1 or more employees working for you. That way, your health does not determine what gets cleaned.More headaches to be sure, but you grow this way and stay in business regardless of your state of health.

Sorry that this happened to you.

I have a very unusual circumstance in that i get along with a few of my
competitors. One helped in the middle of a job when my van broke down.
and when he has overage and can't possible get to it he refers me and i
do likewise. We advise the customer to please call their main cleaner back
next time as we are doing this as a favor to each other.

Short of that you have to buy some time from your loyal customers or
hire a person temporarily . I had a walking cast on for 6 weeks and just
moved hosed etc. for my worker he had to do most of the work. I
measured , did the raking and the billing out.

It's not easy I'm sure. If I were in your area I'd be helping you...
but I'm Not. Anybody else from the board close enough to help ?????

Good Luck

Gordie

well I AM friends with most of the cleaners in town

very close with 2 of them because I send them flood work  and I worked for one of them

I do have insurance, and WCB but would rather not make a claim with WCB.

Was thinking of hiring someone anyways but it's kinda tough to train with me being a gibble

Andy why would you pay into WCB and not collect??

that is the friggin purpose.

WCB in B.C. is actually fairly accommodating towards their premium assessments.
