Just looking for some clarification...

I going to take a look at a flood job tomorrow.... The customer said clear water came up from the toilet drain... no fecies... The customer believes it should be good to go with a water extraction and just a cleaning...

I advised the customer that he had a black water situation... he told me "no the water is clear"...lol

should I treat this as black water or at least an Unsanitary flood.... in these cases the carpet would be disposed of, but the customer doesn't want to do that...

what should I do...? I think I'm going to walk when I see it tomorrow

Another thing... this is a 1 year old stain master carpet...  the warranty is gone right cationic anti-micobial agents have neutralized the protectant..

so it's best just to rip the carpet out right???

After 48 hours it is a cat 3 flood regardless of the source. That is likely what you are going to see. If that is true, pull it or walk IMO.

Wise decision Steamer, if you do it it becomes YOUR liability, if the customer doesn't allow you to do the right thing, forget it YOUR butt is the one on the line.

How much water damage? just in the bath area? I would have him sign waiver on the situation and the price. If the water went down the basement then i would pass, he could blame you for that. What padman said. But if it didn't then extract the heck out of it, a claw would be nice, and get air movers underneath. Make sure he pays ya good.

Good luck.

Actually a waiver for that type of thing isn't worth the paper it's printed on. The judge would ask for written documentation on the proper procedure for CLASS 3 water damage and when he read this, the waiver would go out the window. This is a class three water damage regardless of the 48 hr. thing. The source is still sewer!

Just my opinion.
