I read a very interesting article called the last word. One that John Downey always wrote every month in the Cleanfax magazine.

The February 2005 issue has been written by Ed Valentine of Cross- American an equipment manufacturer and sales organization.

The excerpt that I agreed with the most was "Don't necessarily make your purchase decision based on cost because this could be the eventual road to disaster".

There is a big difference between price and cost. Price is a one-time thing however cost is what you will pay for long after the sale is over.

Thanks Ed, that will be my new sales pitch of the month.

Or a shorter version of cleaner1 is:

"A low price is long forgotten after a poor job is done."

John:  I usually to attempt to explain what I am going to do to keep them within their budget.  Like traffic areas instead of moving everything. maybe just clean the areas that need attention instead of areas that can wait. Try to justify why my price is what it is and why.If everything fails I guess they had better go with Sears and have their bank account cleaned along with their carpets. I quite often ask people being from a small area just what they ended up paying the low ball room cleaning champs. I am still waiting for an answer from anyone. I guess that is answer enough.Guitar

I also know of this Mr. Steamer.  I was simply trying to answer John L's question regarding a tough sell.  It is not a perfect world.Guitar
