In the last year I've had two customers which have come out and told me they where dying of Cancer.

How do you react to that???
Do you give them the Job free????
do you discount it?????

Your personality mut be making them warm and fuzzy so they wish to tell you their life story.

I'm not like that but I can not believe the sh*t people tell my wife on her job - complete strangers tell all.

Always be empathetic and yet optimistic.  Isn't it great that we have today?  I wouldn't say it to the customer, but we are all dying of something.  Just takes some of us longer to get the race over.
Never be sympathetic.  It's degrading to the person receiving those vibes.  I can understand how you feel without KNOWING how you feel.
Ask the customer what do they plan to do this weekend?  Get them talking about life, not death.
Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?
