Thats because most of the readers on this board have no money Splash. They are Canadian, eh?The rich cleaners hang out over on ICS board. That is where most of my sales still come from when it comes to board sales. I make posts here to entertain and educate mostly. Lets face it, if you are trying to get customers, are you going to advertise where there is 10,000 readers(ICS) or 220(here)?

I have other names there Terry. No need to sign in as Ken Harris. LOL.

Still does not come close to all the names you go under though.

Splash: Banner adds on ICS cost about $500 Cdn/month these days, so even though you would have about 50X more people looking at your add, you may do better listing it on Kleen Kuip.

splash,

I am happy that you brought this to everyones attention. I for one am concerned and confused. Yes we do sell lots of equipment on our website but nowhere near as much as I feel we should.

We offer new at used prices. Demo units, consignments, sell offs and repo's. The pictures show that most are like new condition at drastically reduced prices with warranties and guarantees. No junk at KK.

If you ask for junk we will find it for you and sell it to you only after we explain it is truly junk. Now it's not that we don't have many calling looking and offering but it appears that most in Ontario and especially the GTA who choose to enter our industry are jobless with no money and no credibility.

Those who do manage to purchase are generally ethnics looking at dealing with their own commnuity. Most are not business oriented and offer rediculous pricing and few are ever successful. Most have simply purchased a job. Thier low prices make it extremely difficult for others attempting to show a profit over a salary.

We offer two ways of advertising on our website. You can pay $75.00 per month and have a potential buyer call and purchase from you direct. Or you can put your ad up free and have Kleen Kuip sell it for you at a 10% commission. This usually works best when you consign your equipment to us. That way forty or so cleaners see it in our showroomo daily.

The other reason I feel sales of equipment is slow in and around the GTA is that you seldom see expansion in our industry. Most start as a one man show and basically never grow. This is not true in other cities and towns.

I would love to hear why no one is growing?

Now I could make it happen possibly by advertising heavily into the USA for both my website and my super bargains. But, It's nice to have our little Canadian Corner of the World.

Or is it?

splash,

If you want to sell your portable at a reasonable rate you only have another month before lack of interest sets in. Then you wait for spring.

Ted: I think I gained about 5 pounds in the last while.  Is that considered growing.  I an  sure it is not up so it must be out?  So I would guess that would be considered expansion.Guitar

Ted asked a good question....why is there no growth???

Well Ted let me answer that for you....  Customers are tired of being taken to the cleaners by carpet cleaners who can't clean, and rip them off price wise.  people that do not guarantee their work and will not go back for a service call...  There is an air of distrust in the GTA , so some opt for Hard surface flooring... some clean it themselves, some just don't bother.

The phones are not ringing like they use to be unless your a good cleaner and have built your name with service...  If your just starting out it's hard to get the jobs you need to survive.  If your an employer it's hard to find good staff to run equipment and clean.

So along comes the owner operator...a guy with a wand ...a truck ... and a cell phone.....  His equipment last a long time because it's his and he cares for it...  He gets alot of calls and referrals because he really cares about the customers...  chemical and gas charges go down because he knows the bottom line and to make a profit he must measure and calculate to the penny...

basically it's best to stay small... personal service... thats what sells today
