I am in the process of starting my first carpet cleaning business.  Noone within 25 miles of me offers "green cleaning".  I have decided on the Ninja Warrior 500psi with heat for my first unit and using Code Green (from cleancraft) for my main cleaning agent.  I am having a tuff time putting together a Business Plan to give to the bank.  Any help would be greatly appreciated! This seems like a great forum that offers a ton of good advice!!  Glad I ran across you guys!!  -Chad from Indiana

If you are not borrowing any money you don't need a plan, just open a bank account

(Don't Advertise Green cleaning???)  That was the crase a couple of years ago.  Most don't advertise it because at this stage most just do it.  they have a green cleaner onboard the truck  if needed.  Once you gain some knowledge and do some research you may find that all green cleaners just don't cut it and most good cleaners are free rinsing and good rinses are available to get you the results you need.  Just don't head out thinking that the so called "Green is the answer to everything?Guitar

Thanks for the advise guys!  Nightrider, I plan to request approx. 8k for equipment and chemical costs... I was told I would be better doing it this way than putting it on a credit card.  any thoughts?

One more question for you guys...I have been looking into JonDon quite a bit and was wondering if you knew if I could get a discount if I purchase all of my start up items from them all at one time.  Also, do you guys reccommend any other supplier with better pricing?  Thanks a ton!

That about sums it up.....try to explain how you are going to get your customers, residential and commercial.....because they will ask ..... and if you don't know..... all the numbers and business bull means nothing, you can show them charts, scales, and calculated numbers that all look good on paper.....but when they ask about your experience, know how and salesmanship.....and you come up empty.....guess what's going to happen

have you cleaned carpets before chad?

I was in my senior year of college, decided I wanted to own a carpet cleaning business(why I dont know)  and wrote a letter to a guy in a town 50 miles away who was in the BBB.  I worked with him, volunteered for a whole year.  If you know how to clean carpet already your fine.  But I would still recommend finding a business mentor who can help with everything from taxes to buying real estate and ect.  Its been a life saver for me.

Im not trying to start a political debate, and in all seriousness, with the government handing out money left and right to just about anyone, it'd be nice to see some of this "stimulus" money go to an entrepreneur trying to start a new business like yourself. I'd start there. Your interest will likely be less as well. You might even be eligible for a grant.

Well..... when your carpet cleaning company is big enough to put a President or Prime Minister into power.....you too can have all the tax payers  money you want . Tell your congressman that you want to buy 3000 truckmounts and employ 6000 cleaners and have an office staff of 200 and you just might get your money

I totally agree with you heartland, I actually contacted my local congressmans office last week and left a message regarding information...yet to hear back.  I will probably give them a call back on Monday and make sure they didnt forget about me! :)  Nothing is better than free money right? :)  I'm glad you brought this up though, I wonder if anyone else on here as does something like this?  Time for a new post!
