We really, really need help with a circular stain on our berber carpet. We're selling our condo, and the stain is like a sore thumb in the whole process.

A small round bar table had been standing for a few years on where the stain is now. It left a ring-shaped, rust-colored stain on the carpet. The underneath of the table's metallic leg has no rust at all, and the circular edge of its stand has a black removable circular rubber cover. The stain exactly matches the cover. Neither the cover nor the stand have any signs of deterioration, age, discoloration, or any damage whatsoever. They in fact look brand new.

The stain really looks like light rust. Also, it doesn't look like anything caused by black rubber being in contact with carpet - unless we're just dead wrong about it - even though it's formed precisely where that rubber cover comes in contact with the carpet.

We've (naively) tried something called Shout, and then moved to using what's pictured here - Whink's Rust Stain Remover. Our decision to go with a rust remover was based purely on the stain's overall appearance - it looked rusty afterall; however, as you already guessed, the treatment hadn't done anything at all.

Please, we need any suggestion one can kindly give us here as our real estate agent has explicitly pointed that if the stain isn't gone by the time we start showing the condo, we might as well not...

Thank you very, very much in advance!

I think that's what we'll pretty much have to do. I just thought someone on this forum may happen to be familiar with a similar situation and suggest a trick or two... Thanks.

Why not call a professional?

It looks me like the problem is not small, so my suggestion is to book a cleaner and they will help you undoubtedly.
