Hi all, I have been cleaning carpets for 16 years (friends and family only but I have cleaned hundreds of carpets) and I have been reading on this forum that carpets are sticky after cleaning? still too much soap left in the carpet? What are these hacks using? I have been using Teds Steam tex for 16 years mixing at 1 ounce per gallon some times 1 and a half ounces and the stuff works great the carpet has never been sticky and always turns out great and cleanClap let the comments fly I want to know what have you guys heard of other cleaners using in there extractors? Are these guys using Tide?
So lets here what you guys have to say. Thanks and this should be an interisting topic......

If you use an once of " Tide " in an 8 gallon tank the carpet will come out clean and NOT sticky as well.....I've cleaned my restaurant carpet with Tide many times and turned out great and lasted 4 months. I have also cleaned my carpet with just hot water and turned out just as well.....No magic or science in carpet cleaning.....just like washing clothes

If you put fabric softener  ( Fleecy or whatever ) it turns out great. soft and fresh
smelling, vanilla is my favorite

Doug.....That's because you never tried it.....another product that works very well is commercial dishwashing soap for automatic dishwashers.....but a little dangerous to use, burns the skin.

As you know I owned a Chinese restaurant, and believe me the carpets were greasy and very dirty after 4 or 5 months, especially the traffic areas.....Tide did the trick hands down better than any enzyme product and at 98% of the cost.....wouldn't you rather pay $9.80 instead of $98.00  sure you would

Alkl you new carpet cleaners out there will one day wake up and stop buying into all this carpet science crap they make you believe.....It's NOT science . I have a degree in Chemestry and I challenge any manufacture to prove me wrong when I say all their products are very limited in a chemestry point of application.....only dilution ratios determine profit margins and most so called concentrated products are 90% water to begin with, balance are solids, surfactants, wetting agents , dye etc etc.

Careful Ladies and Gents.....never forget the best cleaning solution in the world is still WATER  ( H20 )

Let me challenge you all to an experiment, .....bring a pot of water to a boil and put into a sprayer and pre-spray on a dirty carpet.....then with very little or NO soap using your porty or truckmount clean the area sprayed..........there you go, it won't get cleaner than that.

How would one use Tide with a portable? As a prespray? And can you use it with residental carpet? Is there any type of carpet you should not use it on? What would the breakdown be... Tide/water? Thanks.

I used Tide on a residential carpet but only with a power brush to aggitate the carpet. As far as the dilution ratio, just a shampoo cap full to every 5 gallons or so, you have to play with it a little. But rince well using a small amount of de-foamer if needed. I have never used Tide with a wand, always with a brush. I have a portable with a brush and it works great. Commercial carpet use more Tide or enough to break down the grease. Trial and error is your best solution. Another thing, your customer might reconize the smell so be careful.

I ruined a couch with Tide about 20 years ago, had no soap and bought that stuff. Go figure.
Carpets get dirty quick with Tide too.
Dish soap is a petroleum based liquid that never dries. So it remains sticky and attracts soil.
The powder is corrosive. It will also fade carpets and accelerate fume fading that is somewhat characteristic to many nylon fibers.
DON'T BE A f**kING HACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I usually use Extreme Clean from Pro's Choice for most carpet cleaning jobs both residential and commercial. I like to use the Pro-zyme for eateries and the like. I was just wondering about the Tide. I have heard of people using it with different degrees of success.

It's all in the rinse. I'm sure you 'could' use tide if you rinse well. But how anal do you have to be? And if things do go wrong you will feel a right monkey just to save a few pennies.

I've seen one of my competitor's on several occasions buying out the Dollar Store Tide and LA Awesome products.  He's not a hack - been in business almost 40 years and charges rates you wouldn't believe if I posted them.  I would like to know what he is doing with it all.

You'd think so but I got a call this week to come and price a rental house he did a few days before.  The lady said the older guy (my competitor) walked around "sprinkling something" on spots and a young guy operated a steam cleaning wand.  I didn't know what to say when I saw the carpet because I don't badmouth other CCers to the customers.

It was 4 rooms and a hall of spots and stains-many of which I can't believe are permanent and I'm not really sure how to describe the carpet.  It looks the same as it would if you thoroughly sprayed a high ph soapy mixture and then let it dry without rinsing.  I know you think I'm exaggerating; if I think about it, I'll take some pics when I do the work.

I bit my tongue, gave her my price, and scheduled the work.  I'm just wondering if I will have to buy a lot of defoamer before I finish.

Oh yeah, the guys charged her well over $500 and finished in just under 2 hours.
