HugHello!!!. My name is Glen.I live in WinnipegHead%20Crack.I've been a furniture refinisher for 25 yrs now and i need to branch out and see what other kind of trouble i can get intoTazmanian%20Devil! I've always done a little upholstery cleaning and spotting in my line of work and i know it takes a lot of HARD work to getting into carpet cleaning! So far i have a Mytee 1003 and a Mytee Tempo spotting machine!. I've just purchased a Roto-vac and as i've been reading alot on this forum. My next purchase should be the Teflon glides for my wand!. I have also, an Electrolux Pro-Lux upright vacuum for pre-cleaning!. My plan is to go as a GREENDead marketting plan and i have DFC 105 and Ecogent cleaning supplies along with Dupont Teflon and 3M Scotchgard as my carpet and upholstery protectors. I know you MUST use a stronger cleaner when you get into some places where the Green cleaners may not cut it,but i will deal with it at that time and with the other solutions i have! I go into houses all day long when i'm touching up and repairing furniture and dropping my card to those customers should get results as i have awesome feedbackClap from my clients! They know how particular i am,so i figure,..i've already got the door open!My second target is Daycares with the Green theme!. I'll be up and running as of Jan 1st.,and even though i know it's a slow time of the yearCry,...YA GOTTA START SOMEWHERE!.

Try to get a bonnet system also.  For really tough stuff try shampooing first with a good prespray, aggitate, use a rotary unit using a showerfeed, follow with an extractor to rinse the dirt and solution out of the carpet and finish by using the bonnets and an airmover in each room.  Doing only one room in an average sized home makes for quick drying, doing a whole house full of carpet raises the internal humidity factor and slows the drying process way down.

Low outside humidity, open the windows.  High outside humidity, turn on a/c in summer or heater in winter.

The hotter the prespray the better the cleaning.  Olefin requires its own line of chemicals to break the barriers down.  Learn to test for fiber type.  Always sell fiber protection of some time.  While cleaning does not remove the protectants on the carpet the chemicals used in cleaning do weaken it significantly.  Even with cleaning every three months you need to reinforce the teflon by putting a new coat on after cleaning.

Make sure your rinse has encapsulation properties.

One other thing - only rotovac where needed which is on a hallway for example or in a really filthy rental.  Wand everywhere else and on still lighter dirt use encap chemicals and the bonnets.

And make sure you have liability insurance.

There, a few tips.

Thanks for the Tips!Thumbs%20Up. Yes i have liability insurance and the bonnet system is my next step up as i have read quite a bit on this system and it looks like the way to go! I always test upholstery fabrics and i will do the same for the carpets!Stir%20the%20Pot I figure if i have the most popular (3M and Dupont) protectants that most people have heard about,it should be an easier sell! I have printed lots of the factory brochures and this will give them something to read while i'm doing my work and i'll hit them up before i start packing my equiptment up!. All they can do is say NONO,and that's when i'll start my grovellingBlah%20Blah!!!!. This forum is awesome as i've been to a few others and they chew the little guy up and spit them out!. It's great with the fuel prices down as thats the #1 expence in the service industry and my 69' Dodge with the 418" stroker small block didn't like the $6 per gal. fuel either!Steering
