Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?

I used swish to make the shockwave movie file.

Not sure about the verbage yet, this is the beginning of an idea and whatever I do with something like this it will be the webpage with links to other movies.

I would need to put more on the page so I can increase the effectiveness in the search engines.

It looks nice, duckcountry. One thing any web designer will tell you is to use animations wisely. While they look neat, sometimes they cause problems.

One of them is like you said, search engines don't really like pages with just animations or flash. So if that's all you really have on your page (meaning no real content) most search engines will punish you by pushing down your ranking. The old google algorithm was notorious to sites that just had animations or flash instead of any real content. As always, regardless of using animations or not, make sure you really pack your meta and description tags with strong keywords. The new google algorithm really favors QUALITY content over keywords in the meta and description tags.

The other problem with animiations is some people don't have the right plugins or software to view them. So if they can't see them, chances are they will see an error message or a plugin download page instead. Once they leave your site to download the plugin, chances are they won't be back. If they see an error page then they won't even get to view your site. This is one main reason why I really wouldn't put animations on my home page, but maybe on other pages.

There are ways around the google challenges you described.  I don't give away SEO tips.  Those are my little secrets.

Anyone who still cannot see the page, being in such a small group of users, is too insignificant to worry about.

Not saying you don't have valid concerns, just that if we catered to the technologically challenged and did billboard advertising on the web, we'd have to ask ourselves how we hoped to land the big ones.

Static HTML 1.0 would no doubt work but not keep the visitor's attention very long.  No pictures, etc would work but I don't think you would like the results in sales.

Ha it's all good. I just wanted to give you my $0.02. You are probably right with the small amount of people that would have problems. I guess after taking web design in school for so long that it's been drilled in my head to avoid animations and outside links that don't open in a new browser window Big%20smile

I think it is visually great and interesting. Are you linking to part of another page? I know a bit about SEO and what key words are you going for?

Flash is a great tool in certain situations.  We've found it especially true when show-casing design and art.  However, one thing you have to consider is your target audience.  Do they care about flash, or do they care about finding a quick solution to their carpet cleaning needs.

Put yourself in the shoes of a prospect that finds you online.  Are they looking to be impressed, are they looking for information, or are they looking for price.  Also note that some prospects will simply leave if they don't see what they need in the first few seconds.  This is called "bounce".

In the first few seconds, do you display content that entices the prospect to pick up the phone and call you?

On a technical note, Flash recently released version 10 of their player.  There are some issues with some versions of flash being compatible with the new player.  In most cases, there should be no problem.

Bounce is a very true phenomenon.  Try to shock or capture their interest with something they need. An offer they can't refuse. A guarantee that is exceptional. A convincing testimonial or an incredible photo.

Give them a reason to stay longer than 30 seconds, the stat programs running on your site including Webalizer and awstats don't lie.

Try customized landing pages for each promotion, track the hits and length of stay.  It is pretty much internet marketing 101.
