OxyClean was sold that way, some barker telling what it would do on TV.  Look at how well he is copied now.

Some things sold on TV are phase 1 on things to come.  Who knows, might become part of a fast drying method someday.

after reading this thread I decided to try them out with my rotary machine. Took a couple of weeks for them to come in but when they did I threw them down and gave a whirl on 20oz of barqs root beer that sat on CGD carpet for about 6 hours. Nice sticky mess. I prevaced the area, sprayed some blade and PCP from CCSOP. Soaked a shamwow in warm tap water, hand wrung out just a bit so it's not dripping but a little more than washer dry. One pass and it actually soaked up the root beer. Pulled off the shamwow and wrung it out again. Put another SW down and made a couple more passes. The results shocked me. I decided to try on our area rug and it cleaned it right up. Ok, sooo...do they clean better than a pad? No. But you get what you pay for. They are not the miracle wonder they say they are but they are just as good as cotton bath towel. Yes I tried that too.

Good seeing people TRY anything at least once, that is how this industry moves ahead. Great job.
