If you're cleaning commercial carpet where Omni Facility Services is the cleaning company, be prepared to bring a  crew for dry vacuuming only.

If Omni actually owns any vacuums they've probably never been pluged in Angry

Most cleaning contractors only spot vacuum. Never wall to wall. Dust builds up along edges and under desks. Carpet gets a bad name from these idiotsWacko

So true cmaster. We have sold the service "detail vacuuming" before. It means we will vacuum the perimeter for them for a price.

I always got a kick out of the companies that used floor sweepers instead of vacuums LOL

And the sad part of this is more and more facility managers are giving the carpet maintenance to these people that don't even know how to vacuum a carpet. They only want to deal with one company.

There is a lot of business to be had by subbing off some of the smaller janitorial companies, very hard to get work from the big companies, they will only use you when they are in big dodo

I use to clean for a large movie theater chain. The contractor would use electric blowers and only vac up the piles. LOL

well they only pay their people $10 per hour... what do you expect.

a $10 person is almost the bottom of the barrel.

$10.00 is high, most very large contracts they are lucky to gross $10.00 an hour, so to compensate for that they cut corners to cut the hours, and it ends up something like this
Empty the garbage
Do the recycle
Make the washrooms smell clean
Vacuum our bosses area
If any time left over here is a list of 10,000 things we are suppose to do according to the contract.

Exactly. I've been doing janitorial for almost 30 years. Prices just keep dropping. Service levels are at an all time low and heading downOuch

Why do the people in these large corporations continually fall for the smoke and mirrors sales pitches from these large building maintenance contractors, when they know full well that there is no way the cost of cleaning a building can go down year after year.

How much can we save?  Actually a building manager I know said that to me we are saving a bundle even though our building is filthy  Reduced their cost per sq ft from 2.50 a sq ft to .79 cents for cleaning. I have not done janitorial for many a year the last contract that I had for over 15 years went out for bids and a large company under bid me by $75,000.00. I had 15 people in the building each night new company started with 8 and within a couple months reduced that to 6.
That was the end of janitorial for me, took all the equipment to the dump, to make sure I would never be tempted to re-enter the janitorial business again.l

I only have a few contracts left as well. I haven't bid on a contract since '97. We only do janitorial if we get paid what we want and that's very seldom. I really hate that racketThumbs%20Down
