Subject: Butler winterize question
Date Posted: 01/December/2007 at 8:10pm
What is the best way to winterize a butler system? What I did tonight was as follows: I drained my fresh water tank,I then took the hose that goes from the freshwater tank to the Cat pump and put it in a jug of window washer fluid. I turned on the system and opened the hot water courtesy valve when the water coming out of the valve was blue I shut down the system. What do you think?

what happens...is guys drain out the coolant and don't let the truck and unit warm up enough before they put water in it...they f up the seals and crack the pump head.

you got to let the surrounding temp warm up and let the unit warm up good first

A heated garage is the best option

2 oil filled radiator style heaters.. One on each side of TM on low.. It can get down to -30 and my van will hold +50f.. Banana Dance

You should have some type of heater in the van for your liquid gauges..

no I don't I just make sure my van is air tight...get it nice and hot before you park..close up the doors...close your garage door good to go no matter what temp out side...

my garage is fully insulated and the doors are weather stripped... it never gets below zero...and it's the wind that does the damage

I have an insulated garage, too. The the coldest it has ever gotten was 28 degrees f. on a night when it was minus 20 degrees f. below outside. Of course, you Canadians would probably go swimming on a day like that, but for us Yankees that's pretty darn cold.

I hate winter. I certainly don't want to spend any of my recreational time outside when it's freezing.

I know, I live in the wrong part of the world
