| Hi guys! I need to know who invented the first chemical carpet cleaner and when it was invented. Ive been scowering the internet for days now and I absolutely CANNOT find any information on this. I figured if anyone is going to know the answers to those questions its going to be members of this forum. I need this info for my psychology paper(doesnt seem related i know:P) and the paper is due tomorrow at 4 pm. If anyone has this information PLEASE share your wisdom. Thanks guys! Youre my only hope. |

This may not be a question that can be answered because practices of cleaning carpets have been around as long as there have been carpets, and without patents. The best I can personally do for you is offer you this link.
http://www.burrows.com/carpetcleaning/index.html Scroll down until you see the Princess Carpet Sweeper (a device still used by Kenny Harris under the Titan brand) and read the comments directly above. At that time they were already using pipe-clay as an absorbent and then sweeping the clay off as means of cleaning (Kenny uses copier toner). That type of sweeper, then, would be an early example of such a device, yet it would not have a patent for that express purpose. Therefore, you're off the hook for finding the inventor of the "first" such machine, since it is unknowable. (And yes, pipe-clay can be considered a chemical.)(And no, don't buy from Kenny) |

Cleaning Newb
Sometime in the mid 1800's a maid spilled a coal oil lamp on a soiled table cloth, the table cloth became clean again. Hence a cleaning solvent was discovered.
As for carpet cleaning that goes back to the Romans. They would beat carpets with a bamboo pole and rinse them in the river.

He's not posting because he wasn't at Connections. It was the last straw for his series of bragging lies. He broke his own back, in public, in this forum. He beat himself senseless. Would you show your face after that? Hopefully he learned a lesson, and he'll come back in the future and act like his reputation depends upon his future, just as much as his future depends upon his reputation. |

I often hear people talk about the future...................where exactly is the future, has anyone been there...........if so...............when they get there it becomes the present, so they're not really there at all..........so the future doesn't really exist at all , but we all plan for it anyway.................

................Actually I can prove it ( STATEMENT ) I have 3 pigs that can fly ( REBUTAL ) Impossible pigs can't fly, prove it.
I throw them off a building and naturally they all drop to the ground below and do not fly, rebutal says " see I told you pigs can't fly.....
I respond, ...............they can ...................it's only because today they did not feel like flying
Therefore a negitive can not be proven , before it can ever be proven....................you'll run out of pigs
