Ever call a manufacturer and get bad/bogus advice?

(i) Customer bled all over his chair & carpet, I called the experts and they told me to purchase an enzym powder. It did not work!

(ii) Customer spilled red wine all over white dining room chairs I called the expert they told me to purchase another powder, again it did not work.

In both cases I explained in great detail the problem and the equipment I would use to clean.

Problem i and ii occured aobut 5 years apart but in both cases it was the same manufacturer/expert.

Splash

So glad you got rid of that picture you were using, now the Flames I can back up 100%.

There must of been something about that manufactures products that you liked to give them a second chance for advise. Why call a manufacture anyways. Call a distributor who has many different manufacture products on hand that will give you the best product for a certain spot that he knows will work from the feed back of his existing customers.

You and I both know that a stain should come out using the product that is recommended for that situation unless already tampered with, it could be more difficult. Did you take all this into consideration?

They don't have a clue....the world is full of mindless drone idiots.....the only job they should be suited for is"CAN I TAKE YOUR ORDER PLEASE"

The manufacturer is the #1 selling product in North America with supposed "experts" on staff ready to answer all your problems so I went direct to the source, the top...some people you get on the phone at a distributor only know what their boss told them or what the catalog says.

I guess no matter what you say to some people they just won't take your advise or opinion because they have all the answers so why bother complaining.

Just get your questions answered by your fellow carpet cleaners who probably got their advise from a lossy manufacture or  distributor.

Adwa:  You can interpred this anyway you like, but I was referring to people who dash to phone to buy as seen on tv garbage or the people who fall for the same rip off  every time a telephone soilictor calls.  That is who I was referring my comments to. Necessities you have to pay for weather you like or not. Maybe my comments have too many grey areas so people can pounce on them! Guitar

Call the Carpetologist.

That's why you pay the big bucks. (Only kidding). I do it for free for customers.

Soap and water LOL.

And let me ask you  Splash are you suure you supplied enough info?

Are you expecting all stains to come out, even after you and the householder have used all your magic tricks?

You know I have been reading and reading and I am confused.  First of all the person can only answer the question they are being asked.  You do not know for sure what the homeowner used they will not be truthful.  Were you sure of the fabric , did the person on the other end of the phone know all the details?  First of all I would have pitched the chair and possible the carpet depending on the amount of blood.  With the wine how much went into the backing.  Let be practicle you have know when to hold them and know when to fold them.  The only thing for certain is death and taxes everything will not come out.  Do you think Guitar

OK more info-

Both of them were friends of mine, both of them called me as soon as it happened then I called Chemspec the next day for both situations. Next I was off to a company near Kipling/Queensway in Toronto to get the product they told me to buy. So in both cases I was working the stains within 48 hours of the damage.

And tell you the truth I still have the powders in my basement...if you want them you can have them they been sitting there a while now :) but probably paid over $50 each.

and in fairness I never had a problem with liquid formula 77 or the upholstery pre-spray products even though I dont use them anymore I dont want to seem like i'm totally bashing CS.

You can keep them as a reminder of what not to do.  In Case of Emergency, go to basement and have a refresher on what not to buy.  Now you can save all that money and attempt something altogether different.  You will have your own collection of things that don't work. Maybe you can sell the collection on eBay?

PS Don't forget to include the instructions for telephone assistance.

Splash __$__Dash,

Thee one thing we have always prided ourself on is that the solutions we make do what they are supposed to do. I am sorry to hear that they did not work in this case.

What I would like to suggest is that you return whatever is left over for a full refund. If the distributor doesn't want to, then make sure they call me personnally and I will make sure that it is taken care of. Sorry to hear that it didn't work.

I think the only product they don't have to warranty is HIDE.  Because anyone using it has no honour and is not very smart. S**t know what the hell will I clean with?  Soap and Water or Water and Soap.  Will have to check MSDS to see which goes on Guitarfirst and it they are compatable?

Well Doug the one that can answer that is Steamer.

In fact I remember in one of Splashes earlier posts that he said he runs into the customers house, Splashes some soap & water on the rugs, grabs the money and dashes out not caring if the customer calls him back or not.

Maybe Splash had his first experience with real carpet cleaning chemicals and he expected miracles, or maybe you guys are having some effect on him and he is now getting a conscience.

Either way Chemspec has offered a way out of your misery. (OOPS!!!!!  Did I say that out Loud?)

Soap and water....soap on first and then water rinse.....not the other way round.....

It's all about good service...I just did a customer I've been doing for the past 5 years....last year I sent Mr. Steamer2.... she was not happy with the job...he had to go back for a reservice...and still she wasn't happy..

I cleaned it this year...and this is what she said"Steamer never send anyone but you to clean my carpets....if you can't clean them, I'll wait till they get real dirty then get hard wood....no one cleans carpet like you"

I wear good service cologne and it's called SOAP and WATER
