InspectorThe moisture left behind on the carpet after cleaning is the same colour as the water in your extraction soil tank. This is fact, no one can dispute this. Does this equate to every extraction cleaning as an incomplete job, or should I not bring this up and side with Steamer and take her money if she appears happy. And that should make me happy. Does conscience enter into this? After all her expectation of my service is the remove maximum soil or does it?

Step one - Dry pile lift and vacuum
Step two - Spot and shampoo with nylon brush
Step three - Hot water steam extract
Step four - Pad or bonnet clean with dry pads
Step five - Groom and maybe optional protection
Step six - Speed dry with air mover

The question is will there still be soil left and how is your conscience now?

Maybe you will never know as you may be bankrupt from labour costs.

Just my opinion.

you got that right...you'll be bankrupt....but this sounds really good..it's the way it should be done.  I think if one was to provide all this service... he's jobs might be few and far apart...but he can CHARGE CHARGE CHARGE!!!!!

Some customers really don't care what you use...they just want it to look clean....

look clean is the thing

LOOK clean

it has to LOOK clean

just make it LOOK clean

wow that LOOKS clean

Time is money that is what every body says. If you do this six step method and it takes time, you should be charging a lot more money to do the job right.

I know this is true but nearly everybody says,  but the customer won't pay for this kind of service so most cleaners either just do steam cleaning or pad cleaning. That's it nothing more.

You should do up a brochure, format it like in a car wash. Give the customer the option and then you will get the pay for the service.

Example:

Wash $$$

Wash & Shine $$$$

Wash, Shine & Wax $$$$$

People just want their carpets to look and smell clean.  If you can do that your golden.
