The white cut berber carpets (the ones that look like short shag, also called a salt and pepper twist) are becoming so popular, but they are the hardest to clean out traffic issues, they absorb so much water, and they seem to wear so bad so fast, or at least they look that way. They dry up very nice, but does anyone have any products they recommend to get them to brighten up more during cleaning?

C'mon! Cant you guys help the poor fella out?!...Anyways, What I would do is Vaccuum REAL good (because those carpets can hold tons of soil), and Pre-spray like mad with a good prespray boosted with citrus-solve and sodium percarbonate, aggitate with a grandi groomer (because a rotary may untwist the fibers), and extract with Clean-it or a good emulsifier.

Also, remember to trigger the wand only on the back stroke SlOoooWly and do plenty of dry stroke.

Thats it!!!

Dude, I got a black belt in stroking!!

Anyways, Tell us all the steps and chems that youre using rodabear.Have you tried boosting it with Sodium Percarbonate??...It helps brighten up the color too.

But, SOmetimes there is only so much you can do for a carpet If its traffic wear.

I use Chemspec TLC on traffic lanes, Pro's choice ProZyme pre spot in general (not wool)... I have also tried a varity of others.  I have not done sodium percarbonate because I heard it bleaches.

DO you vaccuum??...Thats one of the most Important step for these types of carpets IMO.

I like to use the Powder peroxide (sodium perc.) from www.solutionsbysteampros.com It's a gentle "bleach" that brighten up colors (it doesnt really bleaches carpet). And its also help with Pet urine and break up grease.

For Prespray...I like PowerBurst(prochem) or Powermaxx (www.fibermaxx.com) for the nasties.

BTW,YOu should fill in more info about yourself on your profile Rodabear.

I think it is soil /fiber damaged, fibers are very wornout showing a valley which looks darker than the sides.. You can go over it all you want.. It wont look any different..

piledriver - The open areas look great, what about the corners and edges of the room?

The white twist berber may be made of olefin, try using olefin pre-spray, dwell time, extraction.

The job was an experiment - the carpet was already condemned. You will notice the risers weren't done either. Good point about the hi Ph pre-spray.
