Subject: Who uses and emulsifier rinse (serious question)
Date Posted: 19/January/2007 at 10:29pm
Ok just for you Steamer. I recently tried doing a job with some Esteam CBS powder in my rinse. It kicked some serious ass. I also prespray with Ultrapac.

I did a Keg resturant with DFC degreaser (my fav for resturants) and emulsifier rinse and it went way easier - great results.

Question is is it bad to use this on emuslifier rinses on regular residential I always used to use Ultrarelease Acid rinse on everything before.
Pros- and Cons please. (most of you are pros and Kenny is a con)

We use an emulsifer on every job, residential and commercial. Never have a problem except on carpets that have been cleaned(soaked)by the customer and browned out. Those we use an acid rinse on. Once you try a good emulsifier on a residential and see how much better it can work, you too will be sold.

So you don't prespray? Just an emulsifer? I am confused cmaster? Do you have alot of jute back carpets up there? Brown outs are very rare?

I did today on a regular carpet but it wasn't very dirty. What do you use as a prespray?

Of course we prespray. PD's question was about using an acid rinse or emulsifier on residential carpets.

We have a few jutes, but the browning comes from excess detergent use and poor extraction. We use the acid to lower the pH. Are you following me now?

cmaster what do you use as a pre spray and what do you use for a general spotter?

First Step for prespray. Avenge for general, although we very seldom need a general. Anything the prespray won't remove usually requires a specialty like pog, rust, coffee, etc

For a prespray I have been using Citrusolv but it gets expensive. Some I know are using Zep Prep - haven't tried that yet?

Steampros Solutions. It's the best I've tried, and I've tried all the big name products

I haven't tried Zep Prep. I'm not a big Zep fan, although some of their products are good.

Who makes Citrusolv?

It's not a matter of not having a problem, it's a matter of what is better under what circumstances.
A surfactant reduces surface tension of a liquid.
An emulsifier suspends solids in liquid.

I think we should ask Ruth Travis to resign and SGG could take her place. That way this whole SOA crap will be sure to go away because we know the only thing SGG can implement is an excuse and a tempoary illusion. Yeah that's it... SGG for IICRC President.

I won't go that far. I don't have any problem at all with Ruth. I want take her rug class - she is supposed to me a very good instructor. Being new I can use all the credibility and educationt that the IICRC offers. Lots of guys I know feel the same way as you but you all have long established businesses.

Take the courses. Learn the technical side. Just don't support the IICRC. There is too much going on behind the scenes. Look at the Bull$hit alliance with the CRI. Just another way to fu ck hard working cleaners out of money. I could tell you some stories about how much they give a $hit about logo abuse by non certified firms. As long as people keep supporting them, nothing will change. They need restructuring and new blood. I guess you don't know about Travis and the Colour Repair course. If you knew the truth, you wouldn't be supporting them or her. Now you got me started

I like CBS. We use it too. 14 oz in 100 gal. We don't use the chem meters, no accuracy

We'll talk on the phone sometime and I'll tell you about the IICRC. It will give you no credibility. No one cares if you're certified or not. You need education from a good, non biased instructor, not certification from an organization that only wants your money and gives you nothing in return. Kinda like SGG.

Yup. Powdered CBS. I don't like Magic Wand's powdered or liquid citrus. Too pricey, and smells chemically. I like Steampros liquid Citrasol. I have some of Cobb's liquid citrus but haven't tried it yet. It's cheaper than Steampros.
