How long you been cleaning carpets?

How long have you owned your own business?

How old are you?

How large or small is your business?

How large or small do you WANT it to be?

How old do you think you will be when you retire?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Okay John

I've been cleaning carpets for 24 years

I've owned my own business since 1988

I'm 44 years old

We put out 7-10 routes each day

We want to get smaller as a company

I want to retire when I'm 60

Steamer

You are much to talented to waste your money, high energy and time working the wholesale side of this business. Sacrifice a little time and start looking at building your own clientèle.

Bit the bullet and get out of this rat race and start your own business cold turkey. Takes guts and you have it.  The fact that you feel good doing the proper job for even your wholesale customs means that you could also draw much satisfaction from helping others in our industry.

What goes around comes around.

Make sure that's a bullet your biting and not me.

ohhh geeeeee I'm all smiles now....but when you have kids...car payments...mortgage...bills....it's just nice to have a cheque rolling in...

I have a lot of customers, and I'm slowly making the move, but it takes a lot of time and a lot of money to do it the way I want to.

I don't want to Step out Half-Assed...when I come I'll come 100% correct.

I've actually put a Marketing Team on the job...you'd be surprised by their findings....lol

When I step out...You'll all know who Mr. Steamer is...

Well not just carpet cleaning but....

I've been in the cleaning business since 1993

I'm 34 years old

Small business.  Six employees plus myself

I would like to be a little bigger.  Just large enough so that I can do a little less of the manual labour  :)

I doubt that I will ever retire.   Some day when I'm 90 an autoscrubber will be my walker. :)

All I can say..is that you are the BILLY GRAHAM of carpet cleaning...do you put your hands on the rugs to heal the stains out too???

Is there a more holy carpet cleaner in this world than Lee...I think not

call Lee for your next rug healing.... carpet church twice on sundays and once in the middle of the week

You are an amateur Stanley.

Now go leave the messy stains at all your customers today and hold your head high!

If you don't WHMIS train your employees in Canada you are deep crap.

For this you call me high and mighty ?!?

I follow the law and you make me out to be the ass?

Please continue Stanley.

not from what I have seen....your own employee said that all this was just a bunch of crap...he wasn't even certified...these are people that work for you lee...not me...lol

Anybody who works for me with any regularity at all is certified Stanley.

And by the look of what you THINK you know about me, its someone who does a job a month or two. Certainly not an employee.

Try again.

Why do you change the subject Stanley? You have two trucks, you must have an employee then. So I can only assume he has been trained for WHMIS, knows his rights under OHSA, covered by WSIB. Right?

Yes Yes we both are WHMIS Trained...all it is .....is good house keeping ...labels and meanings nothing more....but I'm sure you'll find more to say about it.....

and we are also required to carry 10 million dollars liability insurance.... how much are you packin Lee.....

notice you took your web site of your profile??? why???

No reason....I'm just wondering??

do you carry ALL "MSDS" in all your trucks at all times?

I know a guy who's a great guy and a good carpet cleaner but the dude can't read!

You would be surprised at how many guys (usually over age 50) who can hide the fact that they can't really read!

The MSDS isn't only there for the cleaner. It is assumed that the cleaner has been WHMIS trained and is already familiar with the hazards associated with the products he/she is usingand how to deal with any problems.

The MSDS are for emergency services too.

I carry three million dollars Stanley.

I'll bet you $100.00 you don't have business liability insurance  for 10 million dollars in effect today. Is it a bet?

This is your own insurance not the people you contract for.

Sears requires 10 million...cost around just over 250 a month...still thats not bad...sure I'll bet

Mr. Steamer:  Why in hell would Sears require 10 million for carpet cleaning. that is ludicrous.  I carry 5 million and theat becsuse of the restoration side.  I could see it if you were into mould remediation.  What is your deductible  $2500.00?   Since you have to name Sears on your policy that is alot of coin.  When you have to use up several jobs a month to pay for all that extra insurance is it worth itfor extra insurance?  Is that your liability just for your business?  Do you have a rider for the extra 8 million you over above what you need?  Just inquiring Just my opinionGuitar

I know a guy who subcontarcts for Sears and he has $1 million liability

Well if the truck catches fire or explodes...and burns down a couple of houses...maybe even a town house complex...it would be nice to be covered...lol
