Man it's getting humid, and  all sorts of carpet problems are coming up..

You tell the home owner that the need AIR FLOW! AIR FLOW! AIR FLOW!

I always say if it's humid close the windows ...turn on the AC and put the fan to the ON position...if it's nice and cool leave the windows open...

what do you do if the customer doesnt listen????

I cleaned a ladies empty house...she ignored me and locked up everything.

To make a long story short... the house smelt like hell?

would you reclean for free??? or should she have to pay???

Make her pay. At the rates you charge there, you can't afford to reclean for free if it was not your fault.

Mr. Steamer you are compounding the problem by adding more moisture. Air the place out. The higher ther humidity the more the odour. Dry equals no odour.

You would rather never have her as a customer again, I would never go back for something like that.

The old dirty water syndrome???I have had that happen. I take them out to the truck and explain that this is not a washing machine? The dirty and the clean do not come in contact. Believe it or NOT???

I would do what ever it took to make her happy. Then write it off as a bad experience.

I agree with easy1dave. Reason being is when she is happy you just might keep her as loyal and she might be referring others..

Sounds like she has dogs or cats.. I had this happen on steps.. as it dried they said it smelt like the dog.......LOL

If you told her to  have airflow and she didn't listen we would reclean once and then tough luck.

Steamer, how long was the dry time? Why didn't you set up air-movers or fans.....Maybe you moved the wand too fast..

Can't blame her.. I have excellent dry times no matter how humid or whatever the situation is.....

If it took you 2-3hrs on the job, most of the carpet should be near dry or dry to the touch when you left...

What are you not telling us....??????????

Only thing I know is...it was damn dirty...and when I left it was damn clean...she gave me a tip she couldnt believe it...

BUT SHE LOCKED UP THE HOUSE AND LEFT FOR 3 DAYS...  I dont care what your dry times are... on humid days you can just lock up a house with wet carpet it will smell..... I did a basement area as well...and man ever thing stunk to high heaven...

it took 2 hours to clean around 6 areas..... I went real slow in the basement because it was white berber... did an extra dry vac.... cleaned with kill odor pre-spray... and rinsed with textile rinse...

did 5 other jobs that day with no complaints

Odorcide has become my main deodorizer. Great stuff.

I had a humidity issue a couple of months ago. Just bad luck. The humidity hit us without warning, and they weren't home when I did the job. When I got to my own home that evening, it really stank from being closed up in the sudden humidity . . . and I have wood floors! I knew it was just bad luck with weather, and it didn't help that the carpet was absolutely hammered olefin. So, I recleaned and added odorcide, and I made sure to tell them to keep it aired out. They were happy, and I know they would recommend me. It was a drag, but these things happen.

Are you guys actually telling people just what in the hell you are putting down on their carpets??  If you need a deodorizer on all these jobs to cover your inability to clean and dry properly.  You difinately have a problem??
