Never cleaned a carpet before. Just wanted to get out of working out of town. Went out and bought a 1999 van with 34000 mile, got a namco with a 20 hp honda with 1200 hrs on it. Thought I got a good deal on it.A lot harder then I thought.trying to get custermers now. Do yall think I got a chance at all. Thanks DavidShocked

Get out and talk to potential clients! Take a IICRC course, as with all business ventures, talk to leaders in the business and do what they do..(boards are helpful, but you have to have a mentor.)

I agree. Just take some classes and get your name out there.  Pound the pavement if ya haveta. Eventually it will pay off, I promise.
 
If like you havent known already, The first year (or even second) is going to be your toughest.

Every year is the toughest.   but I agree. take the classes. learn.
but realize, this is for you. no client will ever ask you, oh, did you did well on your iicrc test? they want you to treat them fairly and do a good job.
look up joe polish and howard partridge on the web . both cost money but ignorance will cost you lots more.
