Subject: Advice for start-up truckmount?

This is my first post to this forum.

I have a duct cleaning business.  Some of you guys seem to think all duct cleaners are scam artists.  Just like any other business, there are plenty of duct cleaners who do a half a$$ job and collect a check.  I use great equipment from Abatement Technologies, thoroughly clean the entire system including furnace and coils, and inspect with a camera to make sure the job is complete. A residential job usually me takes anywhere from 5-7 hours if I am working alone.  If you're cleaning ducts in a couple of hours, then you are probably leaving a lot of crap behind.

Now that I got that off my chest, I need some advice.  I want to buy a used truckmount and start cleaning carpets.  I would appreciate any advice on what to look for and look out for in a used truckmount.  I'm in Virginia.  Anybody got a truckmount for sale?

Thanks

Hey Mo!  Glad to hear you are getting into the business.  I have a Panther Commander I.  Runs great. Give me a call at 800 300 7188 Five Star Cleaning Systems.  We Specialize in Fabrication, Truckmount repair, any type of welding, restorement of TM, heat exchangers, etc.  We pretty much do anything that has to do with the industry except clean the carpets.  So Give me a call...we have other truckmounts too.

Good to hear there are some quality duct cleaners out there.  I don't know much about duct cleaning, but one thing I have told my customers when they ask is to look for someone who uses a camera system.  My logic is that those companies will have a larger investment in their trade and are interested in the quality of their work.

Thanks, I'm checking them out.  Does anybody know if there is a truckmount type that a mechanically-inclined owner could repair himself most of the time.  I'm not very close to any dealership.

I don't know if the Masterblend Eldiablo is fixable by a non mechanic but I do know it is very accessible.  Check out the pics on Masterblend.  It is all open and easy to get to.

Well am about to upgrade from a portable. But let me tell u don't spend tens of thousands of dollars on a machine.I think your customer would determine how much u wanna invest.Out of my research am not gonna spend more then 6 grand .U may get a nice used TM just to let your customers know you are moving forward  they would be happy to hear the machine make noise outside then leter with increased bussiness you can sale or trade and by a new on. Just my thoughts.

With the esculating cost of fuel, have you ever considered an "Electric TM"?? One that can do double duty and can be utilized on high-rise; security jobs as well?

You'd be surprised.

(Pleasantly too)

Good Fortune to all;

http://www.kleenkuip.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=917&FID=14 - creolecollins   I have one of these sittting in a garage, good machine ,small and really easy to use and fix. A few drawbacks I found with mine. First the blower is a tad small and anything past 150' of hose the airflow drops fast. Second the system that is used to heat the water is not all that good and  after 2 months I removed the heat box and used a propane heater to heat the water.

I would suggest you Look into the Prochem Blazer or the Hyrdamaster Spitfire they cost a little more than the Chem-tex but I think you would be happier in the long run.

Ok, I am in the same spot you are in. First, I was going to get a used Spitfire 4.0, for $4,500. I did some research they sold that same machine 4 times.
That means nobody is really happy with it. So, I checked into a panther 15, I was sold on it till, I got another sales manager at steambrite. To compare the Scout TM, to the panther 15. I have some interesting
e-mail's I could forward to you. I am buy-ing a Scout Brand New for $5,995. The panther 15 guy, gave up, after I forwarded him the problems with the panther 15. First thing it is false

Hey John L. or anybody else?

I don't kn0w to get the Drimaster or the RX-20. They are both from HydroMaster. They are both $3,000.

One of them will work just fine with my entry TM.

Now, which one? John L

I know RX-20 does carpet and hard floors. How many carpet cleaners do both?

The Rotovac 360 does both, costs 1000.00 less, and only draws 3 amps.
