Andy: I believe it is the gas cost. $1/litre has to be taking disposable income out of the pockets of your customers at these rates. Americans complain too, but they are mostly at $2.50/gallon. The $1/litre is $4.50/gallon up here, and the customer makes less dollars up here than in the USA. Something has to give, and carpet cleaning is seen as a luxury. They will put the money in their gas tank long before they will put in your pocket. Start advertising, cause it is going to get worse before it gets better.

Andy

I have had my business for over 10 years and i have never seen it as slow as it is lately.

So it's not a locale thing it seems to be world wide.

Just dont rush in and do what a lot of untrained cc'ers do down here and LOWER your prices. In the long run that only makes things worse for you.

Hang in there, finish off your maintenance and book work and enjoy the lull while you can.

Seriously my friend... When it's slow in the summmer many are on vacation and not thinking of the carpet.... Call your list... I've been doing my list when it's slow since I started..

Keep track of all calls and what they say.. On the top of your sheet write something like this:

Date,Who I called, their last cleaning, their responce, when to call back

One day I had 10$ enough for gas.. called my list on Monday and booked 900 for the rest of the week...sometimes NOthing... don't happen often but hey your list is GOLD......

Good luck to ya.......

I'm on my last day of vacation in florida, my brother says it's been pretty busy all week.

he's not firmiliar with my invoicing program so I left him 20 pre-printed, and he finished those...

I only had a total of 5 calls booked for the week, and I didn't advertise this month..
