Hi guys, I'm a newby here and am seriously thinking about moving to Canada next year.

I have a sucsessfull carpet and upholstery cleaning business in Cheshire UK. Mainly cleaning carpets upholstery, Oriental and area rugs, realator cleans and flooring e.g vinyl, stone and tiles, concentrating on the mid to hi end customers.

I have many questions!

1,GST, PST, how is it charged and what is the current threshold?

2, What's a good van for a portable?

3, Will I have trouble with a porty at low ampage homes or should I go truckmount at holiday cottages etc.

4, What is the average price per sq ft of carpet, domestic and commercial, non cheap end.

5, I'm thinking of moving to north of Ontario, between kawartha's to Thunder Bay.....not decided yet. If immigration is succsessfull, does anybody want to come fishing....?

6, I may be interested in any business's for sale in above area's.

1)- In BC we only charfe GST 7% on sales.PST is supposed to be charged on all non fixed items- IE sofa , area rug etc.

2) Any mini van, although the gas prices might make a shopping cart look better

3)A good porty requires 2 dedicated outlets, some 3.I run 3 with no real problems. Watch out for "heated" models as the heaters can't keep up with good flow and seem to blow more breakers.

4) I'm middle of the road price wise 15 - 20 cents a square for commercial, 25 - 30 cents a square for residential. Some charge more, some less.

5)I live in BC - Our trout reach up to 30 pounds, salmon over 60 pounds. You  may want to move here instead.

6) REALLY investigate before you buy!
