I was just curious on what kind of Unit everyone is using..I know it's not the machine it's the operator... I will start.........

Recoil 2hp... modified with another 3stage vac and portable heater...Also have a floor machine for agitation and did a VCT job with it Friday after i did their carpet...Troy 5550W generator to run it....

You don't have to mention your odds and ends like carpet rake..uph.tool etc.....

BE FOR REAL... And no nightrider, I am not trying to scoop out equiptment.....Nah, nah   Biz is good.......................

Hydermaster CDS 4.8 with salsa unit. 150 gal fresh water tank, on board water softener, 4 air movers, Prochem stair tool, Hydermaster single jet wand, RX20, med water claw, small spot claw, tile turbo and a assortment of grout brushes and grout sealer tools and a pile lifter.
The things that I would like to change is one day I would like to get a better wand. A 2" titanium would be nice. And I like my pile lifter but I think that it is over priced and I have seen some nice vacume's do just as good of job.
I love my machine and would recommend it to anyone. But I fully agree, it is all  the knowledge and experance of the operator.
Also on another note, something my dad told me is that, "you are only as good as your equipment and your equipment is only as good as you take care of it."

In the last 3 years  approx. $30.000. That would include the complete machine set up, all the classes, the van and all the odds and ends I have added here and there. This is a rough guess. But I am still making payments on the machine. 3 more years to go.

I service a niche market. I live in Vancouver, and if you've ever seen a pic of the downtown area you can't help but notice my city has grown up, not out.The neglected high rise service area requires not only good equpment with an emphasis on delivery of a high quality service, and price really being a secondary concern. My equipment is a locally modified Ninja with a 500 PSI General pump, and a dual 2 stage vac set up.I've added a vacuum booster with another pair of 2 stages in series, just over 380 cfm. It's the bomb for portables.. 2 - 4 hour drys , happy and referring custys and I can even offer the residential market the same quality service.Oh- NO fuel while working, most expensive part $500 , custy prvides hot water at .28 a square naked, or read vacant. I ain't bitchin'.

John,
I have been doing this now for about 3 years. My company has been made from the ground up. Yes everything is under the company name.
Like everyone else that first starts out we suffered for the first couple of years. Finallly this year we are making a profit and the company seems to be growing more and more.
What I did was I bought the van  new, paid cash for it, and used it as a lean toward the equipment. This has worked out great for us, and our taxes.

Willy: You have an impressive setup by all standards. One thing? Shouldn't you get more than $0.28 per sq. ft. for cleaning naked??

In almost 22 years we have managed to collect alot of junk (equipment no longer used) ie. RX 20 Kleen Rite 214 a  Pile lifter odds and ends of drying equipment and much more. Our primary cleaning units are a couple of Pro Chem 405's mounted in GMC Savana 1 ton extended vans. We also have a op machine and what ever else we need to make a living.
