Wife's office building was cleaned, they used a nasty deodorizer called Bano. The tech had no MSDS sheets now some people in the building want to report him...who you gonna call?

That is a mild deodorizer that covers up odours by use of pairing agents. Very few people have a problem with it.

Used it for years myself with no problems. Alot of these ratings are overblown IMO. Now Butyls, that is another story. I developed a sensitivity to those after years of exposure that is with me years later.

Bano must be properly diluted.

In a concentration that is too rich it will smell like Isopropyl Alcohol. I believe thats whats in it.

When diluted 256:1 it smells great.

I would call the Ministry of Labour if there really is an issue here.

Most people don't realize that employers must identify all hazards and supply MSDS on demand. If the cleaner is self employed it is the same thing because self employed people are viewed as employers under the Occupational Health and Safety Act

After some thought I would let the joint health and safety committee take care of it. If the company is smaller then I would contact the City Health Department.

oh gawd... call the cops... for a poor guy just trying to make a living.

I know what happened .... he was trying to do a good job, trying to make it smell good too.... too much bano..maybe the office was stinky... thats why it's best to do stuff after hours...someone always bitches about something

now y'all going to call the cops

It sounds like you have the American info DLD.

If not there are big problems as Nonyl Phenol Ethoxylates are illegal in Toronto, even down the sanitary sewer system.

Bottom line is that these products are given no respect by cleaners. We use real firepower and we should give it some respect.

Bottom line is that it is obviously a hazardous product and the company as the prime contractor has the right to know the hazards associated with the product and that info is contained on the MSDS.

I believe this product is manufactured in Montreal.....it is cheap to purchase and that is way it smells like a cheap whore.......every product that you purchase for carpet cleaning you should be asking for a MSDS sheet.....and supply the customer with this information upon request....this is your obligation....bottom line.

I haven't looked at the MSDS lately but it is made by AVMOR in laval, Quebec. They are well respected and a quality house. Bano is both alcohol and perfume based. If they have NPE's in it then it is there to make the product penetrate better. Here is the bottom line. It is NOT ILLEGAL to warehouse or sell it in Ontario. It is very illegal for the user to dump it down any drain anywhere in the GTA.

If it does have Ethanol in it I do not know. But you should know that Ethanol is a suspected carcinogen.

If people are sensitive to it then it is probably the perfume they use. More and more stories of chemical sensitivities are happening every day.

Mr. Steamer - just so you know, Kill Odor is what is known as a dual quat and contains more germ kiiling ingredients that what hospitals use. If it didn't work then you were either trying to solve a problem that this particular quat could not handle (might have been a virus not bacteria) or perhaps it did not reach the source of the odor. Any "smelling product" you use - it is not the perfume that does the job - it is the other stuff.

if you would provide more details to me perhaps i could give you a better suggestion

Mr. Jim Darling... I'm not saying that kill odor doesn't work.... but the customer wants to smell something.  I don't find the smell of Kill odor very strong when mixed as suggested.

you're right when you say the perfume doesn't do the job ...it's the other stuff...

but take it from the customers perspective...if it doesn't smell strong it's not doing the job....

just like Buckley's it tastes bad so it must work

sorry to knock your product Jim, I just wanted to illustrate that Bano wasn't some cheap dime store piss

That Ok Mr. Steamer - perfume is of course a very subjective thing. What you or i don't like someone else does (and vice versa)

I have a bottle in front of me and it says:

Health 2

Flammability 4

Reactivity 0

Personal Protection 0

I used to use this stuff 2oz per gallon in my Truckmount tank and the customers loved the fresh smell, don't forget if it smells clean........it is clean.

I got this bottle from Sanitation Supply House ( Ottawa- Toronto ) 20 E & F Enterprise Avenue, Nepean, Ontario, k2k0a6.......Tel 613-727-0880

GREAT STUFF, AND COMES HIGHLY CONCENTRATED, A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY.

Hey jack

Now don't go crazy on me but don't you find it ironic that a product that has a health rating of 2 (which is high) would not recommend any personal protection.

i will be out of the offcie tomorrow so I may not get to see your bark until i return. Take care

I wouldn't call anyone! I'd find something better to waste my breathe on and maybe be concerned about doing the job my employer pays me to do while under their employment, at their facility, and perhaps mention it to the employer, instead of going to a city/state/federal level and causing the employer to be fined for not posting MSDS for chemicals located in their building.

Want a christmas bonus? Want to keep your job? Then shut up and do you job!

Of course, that's just my opinion! LOL

C'mon Steamer, if someone wanted an MSDS and you didn't have one, you'd at least get it.

I think thats the point here.

This is not really the story of the crooked politician that took a special interest pay off, to pass a law allowing big companys to sell you hot dogs full of rat crap. I know that you would not eat those.

But do not drink this bano that would be dangerous.

If its just in the carpet you'll be ok.
