Become a carpet cleaning expert
Are you a carpet cleaning expert? It may not be as hard as you think…
Most cleaning technicians in this industry choose to do this work because they enjoy it. One reason they enjoy it is because of the challenges presented.
Each job is different; each customer has at least a slightly different expectation. This makes carpet cleaning a true “custom cleaning” experience.
Become a carpet cleaning expert - start with these steps
· Always ask about cleaning expectations or concerns. Do this at the outset of your inspection.
· If there is a spot, stain or other aspect of the cleaning process that you aren’t positive will be 100% successful, communicate it. Don’t make excuses… instead, relate experience. If you know that 30% of the time a certain stain is not removable, be honest and tell it like it is.
· Experiment on your own carpets. But when cleaning on the job, follow solid cleaning protocol that you know works. More than just a few carpet cleaners have “melted” a carpet fiber because of experimenting with the “unremovable” stain.
· If you don’t know something, go to the reference books you should have collected. If you don’t have reference books (cleaning manuals, etc., you can find them at the CMI Educational Products website (click here). Remember, even a qualified doctor of medicine runs into his office now and then to look up what might be wrong with one of his patients… you can do the same.
· Use information such as from CM/Cleanfax magazine (subscribe by clicking here) and other online resources, such as the Bulletin Board (free registration) . You can ask questions and receive answers from pros that have “been there, done that”.
