Lets face it people are not stupid. People who don't pay usually know there is very little you will do about it. If the amount is under a couple of hundred dollars it will cost you more than it is worth trying to collect. Small Claims Court has no mechanism to make people pay. You can get a judgement and still get nothing. You can brag on this board all you want about what you will do. But the people who owe you the money have almost more rights when it comes to not paying as you have trying to collect what is rightfully yours. Good Luck. Just wright it off as a bad debt and life goes on. The only problem here is I am talking about the real world. Not the world of the board. ------------- Just My opinion |

If you have problems collecting $150.00 in your own city, you are really wasting your time trying to collect it in another country

If a person owes you money and they have assets you can collect from them if you know how and have a judgement. You can have a default judgement against someone and then have a debtor's examination by the court. If they fail to appear to the court appearance they can be held in contempt.

forget them and move on...I have gone to court to collect before...it's just not worth the effort...just do like me and keep a list of these people and check it to see if they ever call you back a few yrs later...if so, remind them of the debt they owe you and that you won't do business with them untill they pay up...and if they do pay, then tell them you still won't do any more business with them...but most if not all of the time, you won't ever hear from them again...it's just part of the downside of our business...I have a lot of customers that both work and so they just leave me a key and sometimes they forget to leave a check, I just leave them the invoice and they mail me a check with in a couple of days...but I won't do that with a first time customer...trust has to be both ways... ------------- 25 years of cleaning carpet and my back hurts |

I use a collection agency who make sure the debt is registered with Equifax. Also they are very very good at collecting the money. My most recent on was for $800.00 that was owed to me for 7 months. Right now I have one for $250.00 that is 5 months old and pissing me off so I'm sending it to collection.
