Get it clean, get it dry as one industry guru says. If its synthetic, it shouldn't be a problem.

Don't understand why you use both a prespray and an emulsifier.

Likely causing stiff carpets that resoil quickly.

I've tried different systems. Never had that problem. I did notice better cleaning though.

thats just the way i was taught.pre spray then scrub(stained areas) then i use my machine w/emulsifier then extract.

i try not to put down to much w/wand.maybe 2 passes.thats it.

if there is an easyer way to do a good job.hook me up!

I use a 2 ounce scoop of emulsifier for 10 gallons of water. I recover 80 to 85% of the water. I've cleaned anywhere between 2 to 3 hundred square feet. I prespray, but only in discoloured traffic areas. How much residue can I leave in that entire area? I don't figure much. The emulsifier I use is a powder, so it should return to a powder state and vacuum off. The increase in cleaning ability by proper use, not overuse, of an rinse agent is very beneficial.

Willy it is not the 85% you get out it is the 15% you leave in that can cause the problem.Guitar

Use a prespry and a Rinsing agent in your tank. Clean it there if possible and dry fast if you have a blower. Like cmaster said .......if its synthetic, it shouldn't be a problem.

I sent Lisa a private message @ 2:46 she opened it immediately then she ran away and got off line. I guess she had no answer to solve the problem.......too bad with 16 years experience with all the pro's as teachers I really thought she would educate us here......maybe she went to look up the answer...........let's wait a little longer

Naw, just answerin you and taking care of some responsibilities off the computer.

IF the rug is truly a synthetic, then determine the fiber, the type and level of soiling and if there are any stubborn stains (dye stains, urine etc...), composition of the backing and stability of the dyes...get back to me with that info and I'll go from there. Or if he is unsure he can simply sub it out to a local rug cleaner. It is always good to have experts to hand something off to that you are unsure of, especially if they will be so kind as to let you learn their craft. Most are more than willing to share their knowledge.

Take care,

Lisa

sub it out? why waste time doing that now you have to pay somebody else and perhaps split the profit. all that for one dumb rug? tell the lady to go to Home Depot, rent a machine and do it herself....good grief!

jcooper...listen to Lisa...again, you should take a cleaning course...then you will know what fibers you are dealing with and what chemicals to use cleaning them...you will also learn how to idenify fibers by burn testing or other methods...on most cheap area rugs, you should find a label on the back side that will tell you what the fiber is...

Check for colorfastness with a lower pH chem. If it bleeds i wouldn't clean it. . . inferior dyes cause this. .  you can check fiber type with a burn test like Rick/Magic stated or a chemical test. . .
