I was just curious if any of the pros here have used some of these "green" all natural cleaning agents?  I've been thinking about going with them, because they're supposedly safer! But I was wondering if your giving up on effectiveness???

Commercial spot removers for carpets and rugs usually contain caustic substances, not to mention chlorine and/or petroleum-basĀed solvents. Although more and more spot removers are becoming available that claim to be easy on both the environment and your health, there's really no need for you to buy them. Luckily, you can tackle many of the common carpet and rug stains you may encounter with a vinegar and water solution, and sometimes with just undiluted vinegar alone! To get that coveted foaming action that many products feature, place the vinegar solution into a well-rinsed foaming soap bottle.

I have used many green cleaning agents and I've found they usually work well, sometimes even better than the regular ones.

Mine is a Green Service.  I agree Sarah, the green chemicals work miracles.  They cost more but my customers have no problem with the extra time and cost.  I prefer Green, Bio-Degradable, Eco-Friendly chemicals for a big reason --- I am the one exposed to the chemicals the most and cancer is not my preference in causes of death.

I used to like a solvent that was made from orange peels.

In my experience, green cleaning has about the same effectiveness, the cost is what might be a little higher.

Green is about the same, although Steve Smith will tell you there is a slight difference.

You can remove the dust by vacuuming, then sprinkle baking soda and vacuum again after waiting for 2-3 hours. You can apply a paste - a mixture of borax, salt and white vinegar, to remove stains. Again, wait for 2-3 hours and vacuum the carpet. Now, if you feel, your carpet is still looking dull, hand them over to the professional cleaners. Carpet Cleaner

I never thought of borax.  I know it is a laundry booster that comes from mines in Boron CA.  Does it leave a sticky residue?  Not that I would try it but I am curious.
