Changing a name....

 I have a small cleaning business (4 employess plus myself) and I'm thinking about changing the name.  The name I have now is realy not very good although I've been using it for over 12 years.  In those 12 years I have not done very much advertising or promotion.  Some people know of us but it's not exactly a household name.  Most of my work comes from word of mouth, yellow pages, and gov't contracts.  From anyone who has changed thier business name,  I'm wondering what sort of things I should consider or be aware of before I go for the change.   I know how to go about doing the change, I'm just wondering about any legal or business headaches I may not be thinking of.  or any drawbacks to changing a business name 12 years in. This is a sole proprietorship.

 btw, the reason that I want to change is becasue I came up with what I think is a VERY good name for my business and I would like to start advertising more, letter up the van, etc...

 The current name is QMS.  I know its not good.  It just came about from a previous busines I owned.  The new name I dont want to say until I register it.   I really think it is an excellent name so I dont want to give it away.
