From the Carpetologist

Just a thought...

Carpet cleaners promote that they create a better indoor environment (IAQ) while cleaning your home. Have you ever smelled the inside of many carpet cleaning machine waste tanks that are exhausting into the atmosphere inside the home while cleaning?

Maybe manufacturers should address this problem with H.E.P.A. filters installed on the exhaust ports of cleaning machines. Could be a marketing plus.

HEPA these days is a buzz word. Or could a carpet cleaner have an air scrubber running in the home while cleaning. Who knows maybe the customer may express an interest in it. Do you see $$ signs?

There are many methods of removing odor than we would like to hear about. Ozone Ionization, Fogging, Quats, Natural Disinfectants, Enzymes etc...

I would love to hear some comments on what works for you and why.

We are using natural cleaners whenever we can.

Some pretty scary chemicals being used by some chemical manufacturers.

I am more worried about what I am putting into the atmosphere at the point where I actually have control.

Some people out there may be in a market that they can be adding on to the price slightly with a negligable effect. Very hard to do in Toronto.

Hi,

Wonder if I could retrofit something on the air exhaust port of my Stormchaser, well without it reducing the airflow too much...which might effect my suction. Obviously if I reduce the air output it has to create a bottleneck elsewhere.

Gotta have to look into this though...sounds like a great marketing tool!

Kudos again to the Carpetologist.

Hugh

That is one grest problem with a portable.  No matter what cleaner you use you still have to deal with what you extract out of the carpet. VOC urine what ever it is exhausted into the indoors.  It is pretty hard to leave a place more healthy when you have raised ths humidity and  raised the air polution not to mention how long you have extended your drying times if it is an apartment or a house with baseboard or radiant heat.  If there is airconditioner, air exchanger or forced air heating system you may get some relief.  It might also carry your odours to other parts of the home.  You should also be carerful about deodourizers, introducing chemicals into someone'e home is not always the answer.  Maybe you could exhast the unit outside like when we used to dryclean drapery.

VOC can cause a litany of medical ailments.  I would recommend using natural organic cleaning products as much as possible.
