Hail all, first post.
I just purchased a used portable machine. I have never cleaned carpets before, but I'm somewhat of a smart guy, so I'm going to give it a try.
I do have a question to get this thing going though. The unit is a Mytee Speedster 1003HV. It looks to be the top of the line model as far as that type goes. 450psi, dual heaters, dual 3 stage vacs, blah blah. Got a Rotobrush with it also. Screaming deal. I figured I can do 3-6 months of move-out cleanings then buy my truck mount. Ya, anyways.
The machine doesn't seem to be putting out enough PSI. The gauge is only reading 375psi tops. It had been sitting for 6+ months when I bought it. When I squeeze the trigger on the rotovac, the regular wand, or the upholstery tool, the gauge hits about 50psi and water trickled out slowly, if at all. I unhook the tools from the hose and push on the "nipple" in the hose with a screwdriver and water comes out, just not a rushing amount that you would think 375psi would be. The regulator is adjustable. It moves the needle on the gauge but it doesn't change the pressure coming out of the hose that much.
With the machine off, I took the black adjustable handle off of the regulator and there is a spring and a brass plate in there. Behind that is a brass nipple. Is that brass nipple supposed to move in if I push on it? It doesn't move at all. I'm thinking that is the culprit. I don't have a local repair place, but if I have to, I'll drive a couple hours to get it fixed. Just thought I would as the very smart and talented, wonderful studs on this board first. "was that enough stroking?"
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I did call them. The guy said he wasn't familiar with the 1003HV since it is last years model. He wasn't sure about the regulator and how it works. Anybody else? Not asking you to fix it for me, just your best educated guess. Thanks |

Sounds like a regulator/bypass valve problem or something is restricting the flow in one of the lines. Take it apart and clean it. See what happens

totalsolution,
Sounds like you should have purchased a Ninja. We would have had your problem solved long ago. Only kidding.
The advice that cmaster gave you is excellent. The regulator may need cleaning, new o-rings or replacement. If not you have an internal problem with the pump itself, or it could be as simple as air in the line that requires a bleeder hose to remove it.
