Has anyone used a Turbo air?

I actually sell a system simular to this in Europe, called Roto-Max, so can tell you what it does well, and what it does not.


Nozzle Head is 2.75in, and can pass through duct work as low as 2.75.

First, this is too big to get into much of the ductwork in older homes in both Canada and the USA, epecially the 4" ducting and some of the 5" ducting as well. The problem is getting into the "boot" of the ducting. This is the area directly below the vent cover where the duct takes a sharp turn. When we first made the Turboteck Units in 1999, the tools were 2.25" wide at the point were the centering brush went on. More than 20% of our customers told use they were having problems getting the tools to fit into the smaller vents. The tool was re-designed so now it is only slightly wider than 1.75". Now, all but 2 to 3% of ducting is accessable to our customers, but 2.75" wide is too wide for any ducting less than 6" in diameter if you want to be sure it will fit.

Second, you cannot clean rectangular ducting well if you are using a ROUND BRUSH to do it! This should be self evident to most people but thousands of people overlook this simple fact each year. This is the reason that the Cleanco system and the Turboteck system use RECTANGULAR BRUSHS to clean RECTANGULAR OR SQUARE shaped ducting. It costs more for us manufacturers to do it this way, but it is the BEST WAY to do it!

Good points to this system:

It cleans ducting bigger than 10" round where the Turboteck system can not go. In many of the southern markets, ducts are now well past 10" in diameter, with 16" getting more common all the time. With many systems down there made ALL ROUND, this is a good system to use in that application.

It is cheap. That is good. A cleaner should not have to commit $10,000 or more to get started. If the ducting in your area is all big(6" and up) AND is mainly round, this can be an excellant way to start.

Conclusion: If you only want to clean small(under 10") round ducting, the Turboteck Silver is the way to go. $599 US beats spending near $2000US, and the Turboteck will get into most 4" and 5" diameter systems that this cannot. Plus if you change your mind about doing rectangular ducting, the Turboteck brushes to do this can be purchased from distributors like Kleankuip for an extra $400 to do so.Best of all, our system is so cheap to buy that even after doing a couple of jobs, you have covered most or all of your costs. You can stop offering the service at that point if you find you do not like it and lose nothing.
