Awhile back I was sitting in a vet office when my girlfriend's cat was getting some treatment. I noticed a pet magazine there with a directory--mostly pet-sitters, groomers, etc.--I thought it might work to put a small ad in there geared to pet owners (odor removal, "safe for pets," blah blah blah). They have strong distribution and they're in every vet clinic in the city. I was thinking that bored pet owners sitting in the waiting room often read all the way through (like I did) waiting for the pets. What do you guys think? Magazines are a real crap shoot. I don't want to get burned.

I wouldn't do it. I would try to get the vet to endorse or refer me. Drop off some cards at their office and ask them to refer you. You could give their cards out to your custys in return

Magazine advertisement sounds expensive, then you have to figure even if they do see your ad whats to say they won't call another CC anyway. Free advertisement is the best kind, Do a favor for a favor. Don't spend that type of money until your big timing it...IMO.
