Hi!

I got a Hoover Steamvac. My carpets have gone at least 2-3 years with no cleaning. I have been working on one room. I have completed gone over it 7 times now. I wait about a week in between for the carpet to dry. The dirty tank is still pulling nearly pure-black water from the carpet. I don't know if I should just accept that and give up or just keep going at it until it's clearer water. Do you think it will ever get better or will I be wasting my time if I keep going at it?

Have a pro with a truckmount clean it first then your Hoover will do just fine maintaining it. Or simply just keep cleaning until the water clears up. But you run the risk of over-wetting and damaging your carpet.

It didn't take that long. I just waited that long before doing it again.

Everything is fine. Doesn't smell, no color change, it's all good.

if it isn't mold in the underpad...what couldl it be...

when the last time you cleaned the machine out???

personally I think your carpet is wet for 3 or 4 days...  it needs to dry in 24 hours anything more than that causes mold..

exactly how long does it take the carpet to dry...

with a small machine like you're using it will take days if you do more than one pass on the carpet..

the black has to come from somewhere
