Hi Guys is there a easy way to remove dirt from a carpet that has been neglected for a long time. I just did one the other day and I haven't seen one that bad. I got 99% out but just wondering if some stains never come out.
also do you guys normally charge more for badly soiled carpets? Thanks |

John L. is right. I'd think about it with regard to time and chemicals. Consider what it would take to do a normal job and then add the extra time and chemicals to the cost. There are MUCH better carpet cleaners than I, but I've come across quite a few stains that will never come out.
Ted would tell you (and I would agree) that you'll need some type of rotary machine to clean trashed carpets properly. Ted sells some good machines, but I use a VonSchrader Mach 12 (simply because I don't have what Ted sells) for agitation. Edited by FriendlyHammer - 05/August/2007 at 8:33pm |

The problem with cleaning trashed carpet is no one wants to pay what it is worth. that is why it is trashed. I used to spend time making them look great and for what?? Personal satisfaction because the custie don't give a rats a**. Now I just qualify the job and some say yes some say maybe and I usually say I would like to help you out but?

I presprayed with prochem traffic and aggitated like hell, then extract. The customer was happy with the results but I worked my butt off for it, I am really fussy with the work I do, I just wish I could get every single stain out. By the way I charged 100.00 for 5 small bedrooms, hallway, and livingroom. It took me 3 hours to clean. Did I undercharge? |

The magic question....should you charge more for heavy-duty carpet rehab? Absolutely! Cleaning neglected carpets often requires more time, effort, and cleaning solutions, not to mention the wear and tear on your equipment. Now, about the pricing game. Charging a bit more for heavily soiled carpets is just good business sense. It's like a hazard fee for diving into the dirt and grime, putting in extra effort, and using more cleaning products. Consider it the surcharge for transforming a neglected carpet into a pristine masterpiece.
