Hi everyone,
I am considering re-entering the carpet and upholstery cleaning business after a hiatus of about 20 years. In developing my business plan and looking at machines, I am impressed with the US Products Solus series with Evolution wand. I am also impressed with the Rotovac machine as well.
My questions:
1. Which machine and/or system is performs better?
2. Or, would someone recommend another machine?
Thanks for your help.

If you are older, get the rotovac as it is easier on your back.
I mainly do bonnet cleaning these days which has a lower starting price and is physically less demanding while leaving the carpet looking clean and being dry in less time. You could probably work out of a small station wagon with bonnet cleaning. Try that with an extractor. I do keep the extractor around but mostly for tile/grout and as a rinsing process after doing shampoo when I resort to that old way of cleaning (which is what I started with in 1971 and early steam cleaning relied on to really clean carpets). |

Uhhhmmm...I am not sure if I would agree....Rotovac is great no doubt (I own 360) but for some jobs its an overkill. I love it but I would not claim that it saves your back. It still weights 40 lbs and can be akward in tight spaces.
I own US Products COBRA-H and I love it. It really kicks ..s.
Good luck!

But no scrubbing (like with a regular wand) makes it easier on the back. I agree about the weight and the fact that for people with stronger backs it is overkill most of the time. I also have wheels on my standard wand to lessen the labor needed.

...add to that lips on a wand and I think you have using a wand for cleaning easier. Not to say putting up and taking down a ramp for the extractor or moving around the extractor itself is really great on a less that youthful back but if you aren't going with a VLM method, you can improve your living a bit.

I think most portables will do a certain job, including the US products one mentioned. Some are better than others naturally, however, The only other major consideration would be to select one with high CFM's/Air-flow when running the rotovac.
