I am the process of putting a business plan together to start up a business to compete in the area. I am looking for advice on statistics on volume, sales and growth in this and the carpet cleaning industry. Any direction you can give will be appreciated.

If you are considering starting to get into the restoration industry you should be more concerned at this point in finding out if you can aquire the proper insurance and if you are willing to make the sacriface needed to be in the DR business. You should also inquire how many companies there are in the area you are going to do business in. Just having the knowledge and equipment doe not mean jack sh*t in the restoration business. You have to get established this is not $19.00 a room cleaning we are talking about this is dog eat dog in the restoration market. I better quit.

I am not even considering opening up shop here in the Okanagan. There are 3 companies here that have offices in Kelowna,Vernon and Penticton.I just do carpet cleaning movein and out cleaning, deodorising etc.Plus drywall, painting, and ceiling texture, and ceiling cleaning. For the population here in Kelowna there are twice as many restoration companies here as in Edmonton where i am originally from and about less than half of the population.Doug is right,do your research and try to find a place with very few restoration companies,Also some books on how to market yourself in the restoration buisiness will be helpful.Beamer is also right it is like having your testicles in a vice. Some people you do work for will be very easy to please and the next claim you get they will knit pick at every dam thing and try to get as many extras as they can.You can also knock yourself out trying to please people and then they won't sign the release form. |
