Hi all!

I'm new to carpet cleaning I am planning to start my own business i will soon get certified  in carpet and upholstery cleaning, i know the class  will teach me a lot about carpet cleaning but i want to find out  some before hand.

What is more effective for carpet cleaning? Wand or  those rotary carpet extractors?
Why would you use either over the other?

What would be my best bet in terms of carpet cleaning machine i dont know if i can afford a van with a machine in it right now.
Any portable machines as good as truck mount?

Thx

A rotary machine gives a more thorough cleaning but is not as practical for doing the edges and under/around furniture.

I ran into a guy the other day who had recently started in the business with a Rotovac and a compact portable machine, very slick set-up!  I believe his overall cost for equipment was around $5000.  He was specializing in high-rise condos and getting referrals from truck-mount cleaners who couldn't service them.

Seemed like a great way to get started.

I just didnt know  what the difference was between the wand and the rotary!
Probably $5000 for  machine and $5000 for  the truck if i go truck mount!

Start off with a porty and a wand. That way you will appreciate the difference as you use a rotary and a truck mount .

if you can't afford a van with a machine in it right now i'd say dont waste it getting a rotovac. get the cheaper wand and do a good job now, then when work picks up look at upgrading your set up
