What was the reason for a 13% tax?

Money grab!!!  The Feds and Provincial have Harmonixed their sales taxes into one tax and along the way they have included almost everything one might purchase.  Carpet Cleaning was  at 5% but with the new tax it is now 13%

Some negative, some neutral. I don't think it has sunk in with a lot of people yet. I'm sure it will hurt residential sales in the long runOuch

The biggest effects from it will likely not be felt untill the second part of the double dip we are about to enter. I believe an extra 13% added onto to the bill will slow down the rez business.

If you package the service as something else will it possibly lower the tax rate?  I mean environmental treatment or something they haven't thought of yet?

If it is a service, it is taxed.  Even gas, home heating, natural gas all being taxed, gas went up 32 cents a gallon on July 1st.

Don't forget Doug that Dalty has to pay for the $10,000 on each vehicle he will be giving away to everyone that buys a GM Volt in Ontario next year, eh. You didn't think it was going to be paid by Aliens from another planet did you?

Good thinking Paul.

I am giving my brother the money to pre-order one for me too. Alberta is too cheap to offer buyers here any rebate on them. So I have to get mine there.Wink

What Dalty did not tell you is that as of July 1st the rebate program on Hybrids and electric cars has ended---over gone!!!!!! It was a PST thing, no more PST no more rebates. Besides that all the trouble GM is having get the Volt to the market place you may not want to jump in too fast!!!!!!
