Welcome!

First tip: This is the Carpet CLEANING business. Carpet shampooing is an outdated term that has a bad connotation with many.

Second tip: Start reading the boards! They're loaded with good info.

Enjoy!

Regardless of what you want to call (and I agree we don't shampoo anymore with some exceptions) remember this: It is a business.  Businesses are driven by Marketing and Sales.  You can hire guys who know the procedures.  But if you don't have Marketing and Sales skills, you better find someone who does.  Without them you have business cards without a business.

Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?

Re: "courses" Sure it's nice to know how carpet is made but get some real hands on training. Do you want to learn about carpet or carpet cleaning? Forget the forums it will take you 5 years to sift through the hill-billy nonsense.LOL

Sounds like you're off to a running start.

I just saw that you're in Scotland. Sorry about correcting you on the 'Shampoo' word. Maybe you blokes still use that word over there. :)

Have fun!

Apparently, some of us here in the colonies insist on using the term:

CARPET SHAMPOOERS

from our local classified ads.

Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?

I'd suggest that you spend all your waking time networking with contractors, property managers and carpet stores. Offer them $25.00 for referrals.
Then get started on your website and focus on SEO and Adwords.
