I have a short pile carpet that has a water spill within a section of it
that has not dryed after several weeks. The carpet is continually water soaked and shows no sign of drying. Otherwise, the carpet looks fine, it's just wet. How can the carpet be dryed? Thanks for any tips. |

My first guess is that the water is traveling there from a leaking pipe, toilet, sink or machine (dehumidifier, humidifier, water softener or frig, for example), and that particular spot is the lowest spot on your floor. If that is the case, water can sometimes travel under the carpet and pool and come up at a distant location. You need to find the source of the water.
Don't ignore the possibilty that water is coming through a wall from the outside, either. I had the problem at my own (new!) house.
If, on the other hand, you have what looks like a water stain, but it is dry to the touch, it is another issue that needs to be treated with the proper chemicals. Edited by FriendlyHammer - 20/March/2008 at 4:38am |

The water spot is on a basement room carpet, and I recently discovered that an adjacent bathroom has a leaking toilet. It's possible that water from the toilet has been feeding the dampness on the carpet under the floor and between rooms. For now I've turned off the toilet water flow until it gets fixed, and I'll monitor the damp water area in the adjacent room.
Thanks for the support. |

I was thinking that he should flush twice. It's a long way to Kenny's shack.
