My IICRC instructor said anything under 350 psi might as well be called a Rug Doctor. So Splash is right on. That or the IICRC has instructors giving out bad information. No, Splash is right. 500 PSI and heat is necessary, more so in the prespray tanks, but the H in HWE stands for HOT. Not from a hot water heater hot. They mean HOT as in 180+. Most taps are 110 - 120 to save energy. The inline heaters add about 70 to that.
And to make sure it is the hottest possible, 2000watt heater is ideal. Let it run for about 15 minutes (your chemical's dwell time) to get good and hot. Flush the solution line by keeping the wand above the carpet, spraying a fine mist over everything carpet until you get the really hot stuff which takes 10-20 seconds. Then nothing but hot comes out. That is the water you need for cleaning. I prefer rotary shampoo machines, but that is me. If you go HWE you want 500 PSI and heat. Check out cross-american.com and see what Ed has that might make your day. Mytee is low priced but you sacrifice much with low price. Edited by duckcountry - 13/March/2008 at 5:46pm |

Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?

I'm considering buying a Mytee portable extractor and in need of a little advice.
The Mytee 200psi unit is only $100 more than the 100psi unit. It seems like spending the extra $100 to get twice the psi is a no brainer...but I'm new to this and wondering if I'm missing something?
Also...niether unit has a heater option. Is this a deal killer to most of you, or an "it will get you by until you have the funds to upgrade" situation?
Thanks,
Aaron
