Hi -

I just purchased a Sanitair sc6080, and have decided after using it once that I screwed up by not getting a heated unit. Question:  has anyone ever tried using an imersion heater in non heated unit, or otherwise modifying a unit from non-heated to heated?  Has anyone had any luck returning a unit after using it once?  In other words, what are my options, in your opintion?

Yep. Get a Mytee Hot Turbo 2400 Heater. With 4 power settings of 600 watts, 1200 watts, 1800watts, and 2400 watts to choose from, it is the best choice in 115 volt heaters available on the market.

He might, but he might not. A used machine cannot be resold as a new machine anymore. You may end up paying some dollars if he will take it back.

First off...If you purchased it from KK we would have exchanged it in a flash  for an upgrade. Can't guarantee what my competitor would do.
 
If you use a portable heater that heats the water before the pump you will experience pump damage if temp gets over 160 degress F.
 
Your answer now would be to purchase a portable inline heater.

I don'have an exact answer to that. I stay below 140, and usually around 120. If I have the temp at 120, the heaters kick the temp up high enough that I get steam. I'm sure I'm not getting the steam that some others are getting, but I'm pretty happy.
    
Hypro piston pumps, for example, aren't supposed to go above 140. Plunger pumps aren't supposed to go above 180.
