We had a lot of wicking problems cuz the carpet was vinyl backed with a lot of beverage spills. I gave it up(told them to GFY) when they wouldn't follow my plan for quaterly cleaning according to the manufacturers maintenance instructions. We were using Chemspec Express Lane

Depends on soil levels. The carpet(an airport)we were doing was heavily soiled. We were probably covering about 500-700 sq ft per hour

How many square feet can one operator realistically clean in an hour?

IMO a Demon will outperform any of those portys. More flush and better recovery |

Running the hoses, finding a faucet to hook up to, limited hot water supply. You are better off using it for commercial.

Can you elaborate? Hooking up or just running it? My understanding is that you can run around 250' with it? If I invested in one of these I would be using it mainly for commercial...rarely residential...maybe an empty house. |

For performance, I think it's better than a regular portable, but the hose hookups can be a PITA

CleanEvo;
I think that most all extractors will do a very good job in the extraction process, including the SteaminDemon. However, I do think that it may not be as versatile and as quick as others available. Personally, I do like not alot of hoses running in all directions. Just MHO. Good Fortune to all; Ed Valentine cross-american corp. |

You can use it on residential if you like, although I have only used mine on commercial. I would suggest you use a Greenglide on it for quicker drying
