Since it is an old shag ph is not a problem. I would use a high pre spray agitate in and clean the entire carpet . Then see what you are left to deal with as far as spot removal. Don't waste your time taking these spots off before cleaning. Make sure you explain to who ever owns this carpet that there is a great possibility that all of the spots may not respond to normal cleaning precedures and special acts of terrorism may be needed to fully restore the carpet at which time an extra chage may be required depending on the cleaning results. They may be satisified with just your cleaning results.

Gasoline would be the most beneficial chemical you could use here to solve the problem. Work well into the fiber with a grandi grommer brush. Light a match.Stand back. Problem solved.

Guys I need some advice. I am doing a job with light colored shag carpet. They have pets so urine and poo brown spots are plentiful. One spot of tea, one of coke and one of cough syrup(red). Any suggestions? I am using a rotovac with a portable so good chemical advice would really help.
